John E. Perito, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. A former faculty member and consultant at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he also spent one year as a military psychiatrist in Vietnam. He has consulted on sexuality issues with religious personnel from all over the world through the Christian Institute for The Study of Human Sexuality. He presently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife Patricia and devotes his time to research, writing, spirituality, and music.
